(keep i mind I am posting this for those who love art and are tired of getting hate. also tips from my own experiences)
First off I am suggesting the books that I currently have..... not ones I am saving money up for like the how to draw dragons books I've seen and want.... I will let you know if they are important to the developing artist.
There are two books that are actually a product from beanclam aka Irene Flores whom is a member here on da, tumblr, and her own website as far as I know. Look through her gallery and you will find her cover of her books "Shoio Fashion Manga Art School" and "Shoio Fashion Manga Art School Year 2" the second one she  co did with Krisanne McSpadden. print them out and find them in your local art store like Micheals or online at Amazon. these books
The second and forth are animorphic books called "Draws Furries" and "Draw More Furries" which is by Jared Hodges and Lindsay Cibos (this is major help to people who have a hard time with drawing stuff like wings and the animorpghic faces. also reptilian animorphs which is in the second book but I recommend getting both or the first one first.)
The fith book is called "Dreamscapes" which is by Stephanie Pui-Mun Law. At first glace you may go 'A how to watercolor book? I have no use for that I'm not doing water color' But trust me this book has more than just water color. It is actually more drawing and less water color than what you would expect. This book will help you with mythical and magical creatures  which are Faries, Mermaids and Angels and coloring in backgrounds despite the fact it is water color you can use other mediums besides that in different ways that you would with water color and get a similar result..
The sixth and final book I am suggesting is  "Pop Manga" by Camilla D'errico and Stephen W. Martin now let me tell you I saw this book and passed it by not giving two hoots cause I thought it looked too far fetched and not what I would normally do for my art. But one day I was searching for a new reasonably priced art book (starting to think I have  adiction to buying art books... so many in my room but only advising ones that help on improve their craft in my opinion) and decided to take it off the shelf absentmindedly and flip though the pages. When I realized this was the same book I passed by many times before I was figuratively kicking myself in the butt for not buying it sooner cause it has things in it that helped me get better ate stuff I have had difficulties drawing in the past. (ie. Stitch from Lilo and Stitch. Also Chibies.)
Most of these you can also get from a art store or from Amazon. Or Barnes and Noble. (or ebay)

I am writing this journal for you artists out there whom are wanting to be able to do more and expand your creativity or are just plain tired of having people be mean to you cause of your art not being the way they like it cause they are pig headed fools you will love these books.

Now for my tips.
1. Don't be afraid to trace! (on paper not on the computer)
Why do I say this? well I am saying this cause if you trace the same positions over and over again on the same piece of paper, or write practice/ trace paper, your will gradually improve on your making of the limbs, hands, feet, body, and head (which includes hair and face). Not to mention cloths.
2. Don't post the traced art for others to see until after months of practice one to two hours per day! (you can still post art you did that was not traced art during this time frame)
When you get to the point where you can draw that thing you've been tracing by either eye balling it or without even thinking about it then you can post that piece along with the picture you based it off of as your reference so people don't go chop suey on you.
3. Practice shading and highlighting with your pencils stubble rubbing stick and eraser
I suggest the grey kneedable erasers that you get from the art store. Just don't leave them on the ground or get all kinds of junk in it... [ie food hair dirt water etc etc] or mistake it for your gum. put it in a zip lock plastic baggy that is labeled what it is after each use to keep it clean and put it where you will be able to find it this eraser will be your best friend and best feature added to it is no eraser poo.
4.Don't limit ref images to cartoons to trace.
Do real live photos like ones of people in the newspaper, magazines, movie covers, movie stills, family photos, animals, online images through Google and Yahoo. The list goes on and on.
5. Practices drawing skeletal sketches over the top of pics you like for figures by using a pic for the pose ref only if your still having problems and it is driving you nuts.
Use real life photos is your best option. for those who don't know what i mean by a skeletal sketch www.google.com/url?sa=i&rc… this is for an ie of what I mean by a skeletal sketch I am not saying to trace this from this person [but if you chose to then credit the person if you decide to post it ignoring tip 2 that is up to you I just don't want anyone to get in trouble. But seriously I really hope you listen to tip 2.]
6. Draw what you see around you.
Life is a great way to help you grow as a artist as well. I have a hard time with drawing trees as I sat outside and after one hour of studying and drawing it look like I had a duplicate of a tree on my page..... though I still need to  practice because for some reason after that I cold not duplicate it. -_-' Happens some time to me at least when I get it perfect on the first try then it looks like shit on my other attempts. I got cocky that is why it happens which leads me to my seventh tip.
7. DON'T GET COCKY!!!
I don't mean cocky like saying you can do anything or take anything anyone can through at you. I mean cocky as in . I got it on my first try so why should I practice. If you don't practice what you had just learned will be wasted and you'll have to do ages of practicing later as well as get begrudged cause you were able to do it before with out practicing. Practice was invented for a reason it is so we can do it later without even having to think about it or search for a ref image.

I promise if you get these art books and follow my tips you will become great at art and not have to deal with the art haters you are dealing with now.
And if you still have them messing with you after that just ignore them because then they are just jealous that they are talentless and you have tons of talent.
